Displaying The Details

  • Ability to add additional module (Related Content) to display various related content on the detail page
  • Configure the module to use "Share This" functionality

  • Ability to comment on items at administrator's choosing (requires Comments & Ratings module)
  • Template driven system that uses tokens.  Allows for full configuration of the detail page to suit the needs of the site.
  • Default detail item can be based on data rules allowing for the ability to show details for the most recent blog post within a specific category when visiting the category landing page, for instance.
  • Default detail item can be set to show the "start position" (ordinal number).  This allows for "stacked" items with different ordinal positions to be shown on the same page.
  • Ability to use the global rule for the location of search results for tags or over-ride this setting at the module.
  • Ability to determine the rule for what happens when information is not found for an item.  This feature mainly applies to multi-lingual content, but could be used for additional purposes.

Integration to DNN Social

  • Users can choose to post to their personal journal and/or any of the social groups to which they belong at the time that a gallery is published.
  • The post to the chosen DNN Social areas can include a personal message. The system will default to the summary of the gallery if one was supplied, count the number of characters, and provide a default shortened URL.
  • The user can choose the visibility of the post to DNN Social options that is being posted with options that are like the options available when posting manually to the personal or social group journals.

User-Driven Collections or Personal Libraries

  • Administrators can specify the content types that can be added to a collection by the user
  • The user can add items to a default collection until they request to provide a name to the collection or they try to add an item to an additional collection (second collection). At that point, the user is encouraged to register to continue.
  • The user can add as many collections as they want and re-order/rename the collections within their collection list as well as specify notes for the collection and whether it is for public or private visibility.
  • The user can re-order/manage the items within any individual collection
  • A new "Add to Collection" token allows for control of position and look and feel of the adding function. The token has 3 states to the user - save (not logged in), save (logged in), and saved.
  • A new collection can be added "on-the-fly" with the pop-up box when added a new item

Contextual Tooltips For Any List

  • An administrator can determine that a tooltip can be used with any list.
  • The tool tip features and look and feel is template driven with all available tokens from the "details" list.
  • The item(s) that generate the tooltip are specified with a new selector control in the template
  • Tooltips can be specified off within the settings of the list module

Integration to Facebook and Twitter

  • Users can choose to post to a Facebook and Twitter account at the time that a gallery is published.
  • The post to the chosen social networks can include a personal message. The system will default to the summary of the gallery if one was supplied, count the number of characters, and provide a default shortened URL.

Multi-Portal (website) Data Sharing

  • Administrators can link 2 or more DNN portals together. After this is done, the display modules (list, detail, etc.) provide the means to display content from any of the connected websites.
  • The details are displayed within the same website that the data was brought to, rather than re-directing back to the original website. This promotes a better user experience and engagement. Integration with the PackFlash Friendly URL and SEO Module allows for cross-site canonical management eliminating any issues with duplicate content.

Flexible and Powerful List System - Many ways show off content and keep visitors interested

  • Lists can apply filters by content type, category, group, and people 
  • Items within the list can be from any PackFlash Module - doesn't have to be only the Gallery Module. It is capable of limiting to only the Gallery module, however. 
  • Ability to select specific items to display in any particular list
  • Ability to select the number of item to display in a list
  • Ability to display the order (ascending/descending) based on the start date, the title (alphabetical), most viewed, most emailed, or most commented on
  • Ability to choose the template for the list (multiple list templates provided)
  • Enable/Disable paging for the list. Paging can be AJAX or page refresh.
  • Ability to determine the page where galleries will be displayed for any particular list. If not selected, the global control will be used as a default.
  • Ability to select to re-size images for the list view
  • Ability to select how the re-sizing will work (re-size by keeping the aspect ratio OR re-size and crop)
  • Ability to select the width and height of the thumbnail used within the list view.
  • Ability to choose whether additional items for this list should be provided with a link, where the list for the full item list would be located within your site, and what the name of the link should be (for example, "more gallleries" or "go to complete list", etc.)

Easily Find, Add, or Edit Content Items

  • Centralized dashboard allows content items, categorization, groups, templates, global settings, etc. to be managed in one place.
  • Find items with admin search by keyword, date range...filter by category, content type, group, or people  
  • Use the edit "pencil" to go directly to editing any item from the list.  Only users that are assigned to the item or have created the item will be able to edit the item.
  • Content items can be entered in one page if desired and published with a start date or can be associated with a group and published when the group is published.
  • Items can be re-assigned to other users with instructions on what to do next by using the simple, but powerful workflow
  • Create a summary to be used as a teaser for unauthorized users to entice website visitors to register/login in order to see the full content details.  The "teaser" is template driven by using tokens allowing for significant cusomization and flexibility.  
  • Ability to have the main content of the item be Text/HTML, a file (PDF, for example), a page on your site, an external url to another website, or Video/Audio.  The options are specific the module being used.  
  • Ability to preview the item at any time to see what it will look like on the default page before publishing  

Add and Assign People 

  • Ability to add people "on-the-fly" rather than taking away from the item being managed.
  • Add and assign multiple people as necessary from the database.   
  • Create custom details for people  
  • Add custom "bylines" for non-standard labels and attribution for people
  • Add custom labels to people as necessary (photographer, illustrator, registrar, host, etc.)

Associate Any Content or File to Your Items

  • Adding documents, files, video, mp3's "on the fly" to an item means that it can be used within the item with the Related Content Module, a related content list (in the List Module), or embedded within the text of an item using an Insert within the system.  
  • Items can be related to each other using a in-line search then displayed using the Related Content Module, a related content list (in the List Module), or embedded within an item using an Insert.  
  • Content items can have embedded inserts within them for content that is more closely tied to the material in the item. Free form text (such as a quote), images, articles, video, or auxiliary content can all be inserted anywhere within the item via an HTML tag. Each one of these inserts can be styled with CSS classes (5 styles included).
  • Items can have a one-way (associate one article to another and the other article is not associated to it), two-way (associate one article to another and they are both related to each other), or create an ad-hoc group of associations (all associated articles are related to each other without having to specifically associate them)  

Image Display and Management

  • Add an unlimited number of images to display with your content
  • Images will display in a "rotator" that will cycle through all the images
  • Arrows at both ends of the image thumbnails allow the user to manually rotate through the images
  • Two different included templates allow you to choose the size of the image display
  • Optionally add captions to each image to display at the bottom of each image on the rotation
  • Larger images can have a link to display the larger image if chosen
  • The image at the top of the list will be used as the image thumbnails for any list

Share Your Content with Others

Extensive Use of Templates

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Rules Built Into Module

  • Title, description, and keywords are used as the defaults for the meta title, description, and keywords for SEO purposes
  • Ability to modify each item's title, description, and keywords for search independent of the article's SEO meta title, description, and keywords (they can be independent if you choose them to be)
  • Item title uses the H1 tag for search engine prominence on the product detail page

Comments (requires installation of the Comments & Rating Module)

Group (Issue) Management

  • Articles can be grouped within an issue and be published all at the same time by publishing the issue.
  • Issues can have a publish date, title, description, and image (usually cover image).
  • Issues can be set as the current issue.
  • Issues can have an article detail page separate from how the rest of the publishing module works allowing for an issue to look more self-contained
  • Issue list module can display all issues with the cover stories in a grid structure that allows someone to choose the appropriate issue and go to the Table of Contents for that issue
  • Issue can be displayed as a Table of Contents module with all articles within the issue dispayed and the ability to jump to other issues through the use of a dropdown menu. In the Table of Contents, the cover story will show first with the featured articles next, then all other articles.
  • Icons in Group Management tell what groups are approved, with groups are not approved, and which group is the current group/issue  

Flexible Workflow Rules

  • Login to be able to see your queue with any actions that need to be taken.
  • Email notifications (tied to role) for assignments
  • Editors will only be able to edit items that are assigned to them or that they created.  Publishers will be able to search for and edit everything.
  • Keeps track of approval statuses, dates, and specific requestor action
  • Items marked as priority will be tagged appropriately.
  • Administrators with the correct rights will be able to see articles awaiting publication.
  • Administrators will have the capability of seeing global staff workload.

Allow Users to Search All of the Database or only Portions of the Database

  • By default, search only searches titles and keywords for speed  
  • Ability to also have search crawl through sub-title, description, and detail text  
  • Ability to choose the search display template (as a list)  
  • Ability to exclude any category or group from search results (perfect for displaying internal items but not allowing them to get mixed with external content)
